Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Lorekeeper, operated by Befring Creatives (“we,” “us,” “our”). By creating an account, you agree to these terms.

What Lorekeeper is

Lorekeeper is a writing platform that helps authors organize characters, world-building, and manuscripts, with the assistance of an AI tool. It is currently in private Alpha, accessible by invite code only.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must provide a valid email address. You may not share your invite code or account access with others without our permission — Alpha access is limited and intended for individual use.

Your content

You retain full ownership of everything you create in Lorekeeper — your characters, your world, your manuscript. We claim no rights to your creative work. You grant us only the limited technical right to store, process, and transmit your content as needed to operate the service (for example, sending scene text to our AI provider to generate a response to your question).

You're responsible for the content you create and upload. Don't use Lorekeeper to store or generate content that is illegal, infringes on someone else's rights, or violates applicable law.

The AI Assistant

The AI Assistant is a tool to support your writing — it is not a substitute for your own judgment or creative voice. AI-generated suggestions, feedback, and proposed additions to your project are exactly that: suggestions. You choose whether to accept them. We don't guarantee the accuracy, originality, or quality of anything the AI Assistant produces, and you should treat its output the way you'd treat feedback from any tool — useful, but not infallible.

Alpha phase — what to expect

Lorekeeper is in active development. During the Alpha period:

• The service is provided free of charge.
• Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.
• We do not guarantee uptime or uninterrupted access.
• On rare occasions, data may need to be reset as we build — please keep your own backup of anything irreplaceable.
• We may end a user's Alpha access at our discretion, including for misuse of the invite system or abusive behavior toward our support channels.

This is a genuinely early-stage product built by a solo developer. We'll do our best, but please set expectations accordingly.

Acceptable use

Don't use Lorekeeper to:

• Attempt to access another user's account or content without authorization
• Disrupt or overload the service (including automated scraping or excessive API use)
• Use the AI Assistant to generate illegal content, content that sexualizes minors, or content designed to harass or harm others
• Reverse-engineer, resell, or white-label the service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms.

Future paid plans

Lorekeeper is free during Alpha. Paid subscription tiers (such as the planned “Writer” tier) will be introduced after Alpha. Founding members — those who join during Alpha — will be given advance notice and reasonable terms before any payment is required. Continued use of the service after paid tiers launch will be subject to updated terms, which we'll communicate clearly in advance.

Disclaimer of warranties

Lorekeeper is provided “as is,” especially during this Alpha period, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Befring Creatives is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data or content. Your use of Lorekeeper during Alpha is at your own discretion, with the risks outlined above clearly disclosed.

Termination

You may stop using Lorekeeper and delete your account at any time by contacting daniel@lorekeeper.ink. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Norwegian courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice before taking effect.
